Reflection

Experience：

During this design learning process, I experienced a comprehensive baptism from theory to practice. Through Exercise 1, I gained a deep understanding of the complexity and diversity of the typesetting system, from the nuances of Random to Transitional, to the specific operations of rows, columns, and margins. Every step was full of challenges and rewards. Teacher Vinod's careful guidance not only taught me technical knowledge, but more importantly, cultivated my attention to design details. Exercise 2 was a dual test of vision and understanding. Although the first attempt was not satisfactory, after the teacher's feedback and self-reflection, I readjusted my strategy and finally made significant progress. This process made me deeply realize that design is not only a technical activity, but also an art that requires constant trial and error and correction. The font design part is a comprehensive challenge for me. From the initial conception to the final presentation, every step requires a lot of patience and creativity on my part. Using the Fontlab App to adjust font shapes not only tested my technical skills, but also gave me a deep understanding of the aesthetic principles and practical considerations behind font design. This experience made me realize that design is a profession that requires profound aesthetic literacy and continuous learning. Every attempt is a challenge and transcendence of one's own limits.

Observations：

Through practice and practice, I gradually learned how to observe design works from a more nuanced perspective. In Exercise 1, I observed the subtle differences between Random and Transitional typography. This improvement in observation helped me better understand and apply different typography styles. In font design, I deeply understand the importance of every detail. Whether it is the shape adjustment of letters or the precise control of the cylinder width in Adobe Illustration App, it is directly related to the harmony and beauty of the final work. In addition, I also observed the great role of feedback mechanisms in the classroom. Whether it’s your own work or someone else’s, every feedback is a valuable learning opportunity. I learned to learn from other people’s mistakes to avoid making the same mistakes myself, and I also cherished every opportunity to receive constructive advice as the key to improving my self-design capabilities.

Findings：

Through this design journey, I discovered many valuable truths about design and creation. First of all, the details and emotional expression of the design had a far greater impact on the final product than I expected. A balanced and harmonious layout and an emotional font design can significantly enhance the visual impact and information transmission effect of the work. Secondly, I realized that design is not only a visual presentation, but more importantly, the transmission of emotions and the expression of connotations. Through the use of elements such as mood boards and animation rhythms, I can better convey my design concepts and emotional colors. More importantly, I discovered the infinite charm of type design as an art. It not only requires designers to have profound aesthetic literacy and typography knowledge, but also requires constant experimentation and exploration to find the most suitable design language. Every failure is a valuable accumulation of experience, and every success is an affirmation and improvement of one's own abilities. To sum up, this design learning experience has not only enabled me to make significant progress in technology, but more importantly, it has achieved an overall improvement in observation, thinking and creativity. I believe that in the future of design, I will continue to uphold this love and persistence, constantly pursue a higher design realm, and give back to the society and the audience with more excellent works.
